Finally, Aduda Dumps PDP, What Next?

todayMarch 17, 2026

Background

A former senator who represented the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Philip Tanimu Aduda, has formally resigned his membership from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), citing ongoing internal crisis within the party.

In a resignation letter dated March 17, 2026, and addressed to the PDP Chairman of Karu Ward in Abuja, Aduda announced his decision to leave the party with immediate effect.

“I write to formally notify you of my resignation as a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect due to the crisis in the party,” the letter read.

Aduda expressed his appreciation to the party for the opportunity it provided him during his political career, noting that he was grateful for the chance to serve in various elective positions in the country.

Aduda served as senator representing the FCT across the 7th, 8th, and 9th National Assemblies from 2011 to 2023, making him one of the prominent political figures in the territory under the PDP platform.

His resignation is expected to further impact the political dynamics within the PDP in the FCT, especially at the grassroots level in Karu Ward, where the letter was formally received and acknowledged.

As of the time of filing this report, the PDP leadership has not issued an official response to the development, nor the party Aduda would align with.
