The Federal Road Safety Corps FRSC has called on motorists especially commercial drivers to drive responsibly to prevent road crashes during the Sallah celebrations.
The FRSC Acting Corps Public Education Officer Felicia Kalu while Speaking during a sensitization exercise at the Mararaba central motor park for Articulated Vehicles plying the northern part of the country said the senzitization campaign was aimed at reminding drivers that road safety is a shared responsibility.
Mrs Kalu explained that the location was carefully chosen due to the the large number of motorists passing through the area, to their various destinations in the Northern part of the country.
According to her,, the senzitization provided an ample opportunity for the FRSC to reach out to many road users with safety messages, especially during festive periods when volume of traffic was expected to be high.
She warned motorists against over speeding, dangerous driving, overloading, and other traffic violations that could lead to road accidents.

The FRSC spokesperson noted that officers and men have been deployed across major highways to increase visibility and monitor compliance with traffic regulations.
She announced that mobile courts would be in session during the Sallah celebration to prosecute traffic offenders.
The Corps Education Officer also warned drivers against the use of vehicles that are not roadworthy, noting that such vehicles would be impounded once detected.
Mrs Kalu assured that the Corps would w;ork with stakeholders to ensure safety of lives and property on the roads during the Sallah period.
She also solicited the support of motorists for effective traffic management during the Sallah celebration.
Also, the Assistant Corps Commander Administration, Oludegun Agboola who educated motorists on the effects of alcoholic drinks and hard drugs
urged them to avoid unnecessary distraction that could lead to road crashes.
Fliers with inscriptions such as “safe driving starts with your voice, speak out against reckless driving, ‘crashes kill more perssengers than drivers’ speak out! Your voice can stop the crash’ were distributed to commuters and drivers as well as passers-by.
