DCP Anthony Okon Placid Emerges New Force PRO

Background

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has appointed DCP Anthony Okon Placid as the new Force Public Relations Officer FPRO of the Nigeria Police Force.

DCP Placid, a highly experienced officer, brings expertise in administration, operations, intelligence, training, and international peacekeeping. Born on December 2, 1970, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, he hails from Mbiokporo Nsit in Nsit Ibom Local Government Area.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geography and Regional Planning from the University of Uyo, a Master’s degree in Law and Diplomacy from the University of Jos, and a Law degree from the National Open University of Nigeria. He joined the police force in 1996 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police and was commissioned in 1998.

Throughout his career, DCP Placid has attended numerous professional and international courses, including UN Peace Operations training and leadership courses in Kenya. He has served in key positions both within Nigeria and abroad, including the African Union Mission in Sudan, UN Mission in Darfur, and as African Union Election Security Adviser.

A member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), Commonwealth Human Rights Trainer, and ICRC Trainer on International Humanitarian Law, he is also a graduate of the Senior Executive Course (SEC 47) at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru. He is married with children and enjoys music, sports, and community engagement.
