The Commandant General (CG), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi has cautioned officers and Men of the Corps to always observe and follow all safety standards to avoid workplace hazards.
A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Corps Babawale Afolabi says the warning follows the loss of one of its gallant officers in the Female Strike Force as a result of auto accident.
The statement says the unfortunate incident occurred at the National Headquarters, Abuja, during a simulation exercise on “Tactical Rescue Operation” of kidnapped school children by the Female Strike Force in commemoration of the 2026 World Civil Defence Day, an annual event observed by member countries worldwide.
It states that the personnel, identified as Assistant Superintendent of Corps, Ogbodo Ene victoria, was immediately rushed to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Gwagwalada specialist hospital, Abuja, for an urgent medical care but all efforts to salvage the situation by the doctors proved abortive as she later passed on.
It says that the CG who expressed shock at the unfortunate incident prays for the repose of her soul as he conveys deepest condolences to everyone associated with the deceased, including all officers and men of the Corps nationwide.
According to the statement, the CG has also directed a high powered delegation from the Corps National Headquarters to pay a condolence visit to the families of the victim assuring that the service will ensure that the officer is given a very befitting burial rites and payment of her post life benefits in the service.
Professor Audi who appeals to officers and men of the Corps to continue praying for the service charged them not to be deterred by the unfortunate incident which occurred during the World Civil Defence day celebration, but see the situation as an act of God.
