Society for Youths and the Downtrodden, has called for concerted efforts to safeguard the nation’s electoral process and maintain public trust.
Speaking at a news conference in Abuja, the leader of the group, Gabriel Ogbwuche noted that the 2027 general election would go a long way to shape the future of the vulnerable group in the society hence, the success of any election depends largely on the strength of institutions and the credibility of the electoral process, rather than just the final outcome.
He explained that a credible election will no doubt help to address challenges, with particular reference to banditry and other social ills youths exhibit in the country.
He stressed that the outcome of the electioneering process will build the confidence of the teaming youths especially the Downtrodden.
While applauding the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led administration for its various reforms aimed at transforming the country to be at par with other developed countries in the world, he said governance is everyone’s business therefore, he called on Nigerians to support the government to succeed in its development plan.
According to him, Nigeria is a very complex country difficult to govern, therefore the need for adequate policies that would create an enabling environment for credible leaders to pilot the affairs of the country without negative interference.
Ogbwuche concluded by calling on all stakeholders to support efforts aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s democracy
