Youths Must Shape Future, Says Former Presidential Aspirant

todayFebruary 26, 2026

Background

A Former Labour Party presidential Aspirant, Joseph Oluwadare Faduri
has urged young people to use their numerical strength to influence national development and play a more prominent role in shaping the country’s future.

Speaking at a media conference in Abuja, Mr. Joseph said the country remains burdened by corruption, insecurity and economic stagnation noting that the political elite have consistently prioritised personal interests over the welfare of citizens.

He identified recurring power outages, a struggling healthcare system, rising youth unemployment and growing insecurity as clear signs of structural weakness.

Mr. Faduri also described what he called generational stagnation in leadership, arguing that older politicians have been unable to effectively address modern challenges such as technological advancement and economic transformation.

He called for a people-first approach to governance, stressing the importance of investing in education, vocational skills, healthcare, local manufacturing and comprehensive security reforms.

Faduri also called for peaceful political engagement between candidates and stakeholders while declaring his intention to contest in the 2027 presidential election under the National Rescue Movement, NRM.
