2027 Elections : Gov Otti Sues For Consolidation, Unity

The Governor of Abia State and National Leader of the Labour Party, Alex Otti, has called for renewed unity, structural consolidation, and strategic coordination within the party as preparations begin ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Governor Otti made the call in a goodwill message delivered on his behalf by the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Ikechukwu Emetu, at the One-Day Strategic Multi-Level Stakeholders Summit themed, “Reuniting the Party, Consolidating Strength for Sustainable Political Impact in the 2027 General Election.”

Addressing party leaders and stakeholders across national, state, and grassroots levels, the Governor stressed that political relevance and electoral success are products of deliberate planning, internal cohesion, and credible governance.

He described the summit as a critical opportunity for introspection, recalibration, and renewed commitment to the party’s founding ideals of equity, justice, accountability, and people-centered development.

Governor Otti noted that governance under the Labour Party in Abia State has demonstrated that the party is more than an electoral platform, describing it as a vehicle for responsible leadership and measurable development outcomes.

He highlighted reforms in infrastructure renewal, institutional strengthening, fiscal discipline, and improved service delivery as evidence that vision-driven leadership can produce tangible progress.

However, he emphasized that sustainable political success depends on internal harmony built on trust, structured communication, inclusiveness, and discipline rather than superficial reconciliation.

“Reuniting the party is not about ignoring differences,” he stated.

He added that strengthening structures and deepening consultation will ensure that every stakeholder feels valued and heard.

Looking ahead to 2027, the Governor outlined key priorities, including strengthening grassroots mobilization and membership revalidation, expanding youth and women participation, promoting internal democracy, and effectively communicating governance achievements.

He reminded members that electoral victories are secured through sustained engagement, consistent performance in office, and continuous connection with citizens, not just election-year activities.

Governor Otti further urged that the summit should produce actionable resolutions with clear responsibilities and measurable timelines, encouraging dialogue and institutional mechanisms to resolve internal disagreements.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to democratic consolidation, he assured that the Abia State Government would continue to collaborate with progressive forces to safeguard its mandate and expand the party’s political footprint responsibly.

In her remarks, National Chairman of the Labour Party, Senator Nenadi Usman, emphasized that long-term success depends on building a solid grassroots foundation anchored on proper membership registration and reliable data management.

She noted that the party’s challenges in the 2023 general election were partly due to the underutilization of its natural structures, particularly the organized labour, including the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, stressing that comprehensive registration and effective polling unit coordination are essential for electoral credibility and future success.

The National Chairman described the ongoing reorganization efforts as a renewed opportunity to build a firm foundation, urging stakeholders to diligently implement agreed strategies and ensure that the party enters the 2027 elections united, structured, and strategically positioned for victory.
