Use Fasting Period To Pray For Nigeria – NCPC Boss To Christians, Muslims

todayFebruary 17, 2026

Background

Christain and Muslim faithfuls have been urged to use this year’s Lenten season and Ramadan to pray and seek Divine solutions to the challenges in the country.

The Executive Secretary, Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, NCPC Bishop Stephen Adegbite who made the call while addressing newsmen on the activities of the commission in the last two years said for the annual fasting period of the two religions to come up the same time was not a coincidence.

According to him, the Almighty God that the two religions believe in is a God of peace and love hence the need for the leaders of the two faiths to preach peace and promote Unity.

He urged both Christian and Muslim Leaders to use the opportunity provided by the Holy month of Ramadan and the Lenten period to also pray for the end to insurgency and sponsors of wicked acts in the country.

According to him, collective prayers will uproot wicked strongholds and bring prosperity to the nation.

Bishop Adegbite stressed the need for political office holders to place national interest above personal ambition and leave a legacy worthy of emulation for the future generations.

He commended President Bola Tinubu for supporting the two religions saying the two Commissions receive equal treatment from the Federal Government.

The NCPC Executive Secretary however emphasized the need for Nigerians to appreciate and support the ongoing reforms which he said was yielding positive results.

According to him foreign investors have started to have confidence in the country’s economy.

He urged well meaning individuals to sponsor the less privileged yearning for spiritual growth for pilgrimages.

Bishop Stephen Adegbite assured that the NCPC will not allow any christain to be shortchanged during the spiritual exercise in Israel, Jordan and Rome.
