In a bid to promote and sustain a speedy administration of justice delivery in the country, the Attorney General of the Federation AGF, and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN on Tuesday hinted that the Federal Ministry of Justice has taken tangible steps to embrace technology into the justice sector administration.
The AGF, who stated this at an ICT Forum in Abuja, tagged: “JusticeTechNG HACKATHON & ACCELERATOR DemoDay” described the event as a core operational capability hence restated the ministry’s commitment to the implementation of the Electronic Content Management System (ECMS).
Fagbemi, who chaired the occasion, explained that the event requires a significant public investment, reflecting the government’s recognition that building institutional capacity requires not only human resources but also technological infrastructure.
“The Renewed Hope Agenda of the president recognizes a fundamental truth that national development depends ultimately on trust, the ECMS is aimed at improving how we track documents and maintain institutional memory so that knowledge is not lost even at the event of staff transfer to enhance efficiency in prosecutorial and advisory functions to strengthen accountability by creating auditable records of actions and decisions;
“JusticeTechNG DemoDay gathering represents far more than a routine ceremony but, acknowledgement of innovation.It reflects a deliberate and strategic choice by the justice sector to engage to the future with clarity, discipline and purpose of embracing a digital solutions, innovations to strengthen our institution, expand opportunity to deepen the rule of law in Nigeria.”
“We are here because we recognize that the challenges facing our justice system demand not only commitment and resources, but also creativity, adaptation and intelligent application of technology to age- old problems of access, efficiency and accountability.
“JusticeTechNG was designed to solve a real and persistent problem that has plagued not only Nigeria but justice systems across the developing world.Across our justice sector, we have an abundance of talent that lacks access to institutional platforms.”

Also speaking, the President of Court of Appeal, Abuja division, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, assured that the Tech solution will among other things, enhance court cases and broader judicial reforms.
Represented by Justice Okon Abang of the Appeal Court, she explained that the best technology tool for the justice sector should be user friendly to solve adjudication related challenges.
Earlier, the convener of the event Mr Fernandez Markus Obiene who is the Special Assistant to the president on justice sector reform and ICT/ Digital and innovative technology said the accelerator program is tailored towards speedy dispensation of justice.

The event which was in collaboration with JusticeTech Nigeria Ltd, Arravo Technology Ltd drew justice stakeholders and tech experts from various ICT experts such as the Senate Committee Chairman on ICT & Cyber-Security Sen. Shaibu Salisu, Justice Olayinka Faji, and Justice Kashim Zannah, Chief Judge of Borno State all gave their goodwill messages.
There were also award presentations representing the adoption of the technology-driven firm and as part of commitment to the innovation with Tech experts ranging from N10 million, N7 million, and N5 million for the first, second, and third position from the Hackathon practical segment .
