The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr. Nyesom Wike, says the 13-kilometre Kuje–Gwagwalada road will be commissioned in June 2026 as part of projects to mark President Bola Tinubu”s third year in Office.
He made this known during an inspection of the ongoing Airport–Kuje and Kuje–Gwagwalada road projects in Abuja.
Wike expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work on both projects, describing them as critical infrastructure for residents of the FCT.
He noted that the Airport–Kuje road which has attained 70℅ completion is a strategic route that remains key to improving connectivity within the territory.
Wike who also hinted that the Kuje–Gwagwalada stretch is nearing 65 percent completion, expressed confidence that the contractors would meet the agreed deadline.
“God willing, by the first week of June or before the end of June, we will inaugurate this project,” Wike said. He commended the contractors for the level of commitment demonstrated so far.
The Minister emphasized that the road will ease movement between Gwagwalada and other parts of Abuja without necessarily passing through the airport corridor.
He described the project as very important to residents and expressed happiness with the progress recorded.
