AMAC : SDP Chairman Decamps To APC, Endorses Maikalangu For 2nd Term

The political structure of the opposition Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) has officially collapsed into the All Progressives Congress (APC), following the high-profile defection of its Chairman, Hon. Dauda Mohammed.

This is issued in a statement by the Director on Media and Strategic Communication Maikalangu/Nadabo Campaign Council Comrade Kingsley Madaki.

“​In what political observers are calling a “game-changing” development just ten days before the February 21st Area Council elections, Hon. Mohammed led a massive wave of supporters to join the APC, formally endorsing the incumbent Executive Chairman, Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, for a second tenure.

​The Jiwa Declaration epoch-making event took place today during Hon. Maikalangu’s grand tour of the Jiwa community.

Amidst a sea of cheering supporters, traditional dancers, and party faithful, Hon. Mohammed publicly discarded his former party’s mandate, citing the “unassailable performance and infrastructure revolution” of the Maikalangu administration as the reason for his exit.

​”Today, I am choosing progress over partisan sentiment,” Hon. Mohammed declared while addressing the mammoth crowd at the Jiwa palace grounds.

“The Social Democratic Party in AMAC has watched Hon. Maikalangu turn the council into a construction site of hope.

From the rural electrification in Gasaki Cheta to the asphalt roads here in Jiwa, his work has made the opposition’s job impossible.

We have decided to join the winning team to ensure this excellence continues for another four years.”

The event was witnessed by the Sarkin Jiwa and several high-ranking traditional leaders, who bestowed royal blessings on the new alliance.

​Welcoming the decampees, a visibly elated Hon. Maikalangu described the move as a “homecoming for lovers of development.”

​”I welcome my brother, Hon. Dauda Mohammed, to the APC.

This is a testament to the fact that our ‘Smart AMAC’ vision transcends party lines,” Maikalangu stated.

“His decision to join us during this Jiwa tour proves that our projects are our best campaigners.

With this new strength, our victory on February 21st is not just certain, it will be a landslide.”

​The defection adds significant weight to the “Maikalangu Effect” sweeping through AMAC’s 12 wards.

With the collapse of the SDP structure, the APC is now positioned as a unified front of progress, supported by a coalition of former rivals who have put the development of the Federal Capital Territory above all else.

​The Maikalangu/Nadabo Campaign Council urges all residents to remain steadfast and replicate this show of solidarity at the polling units to seal the mandate for continuity, transparency, and inclusive growth.
