35th Anniversary: CAC To Establish Hospital For Staff, Retirees

Background

The Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC says it deregistered four hundred thousand companies last year for inactivity and posing a threat to the operations of the nation’s economy.

The Registrar General of CAC, Alhaji Hussaini Magaji made this known in Abuja during a Walk to mark the 35th Anniversary of the Commission.

Alhaji Magaji said the move became necessary to also boost the confidence of investors and ensure credible and reliable records and to register active companies operating in the country.

He stated that the Commission has equally created Beneficial Ownership Register which has been launched and operationalized to enable the Commission have full records of those behind any company.

According to him, this is to ensure transparency, accountability and guard against any fraudulent practices by companies operating in the country.

The Registrar who reiterated the commitment of the Commission to ease of doing business in the country explained that CAC is collaborating with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria, SMEDAN, to register two hundred and fifty thousand small businesses as part of the Commission’s intervention to SMEs towards enhancing the growth of the sector and fast track national economic development.

On staff welfare, the Registrar General explained that plans are on ground to establish a hospital that would serve as healthcare support to serving and retired staff of the Commission .

He said a car loan and housing loan are already in place for staff towards enhancing their welfare and productivity.

While soliciting the continuous support of staff and l management, Alhaji Magaji called for more collaboration from the media and other stakeholders towards actualizing the mandate of the Commission.

The Registrar added that other activities have also been lined up to celebrate the 35th Anniversary of the Corporate Affairs Commission.
