We Will Continue To Execute Projects To Impact Rural Dwellers – Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr Nyesom Wike, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Federal Capital Territory Administration to deliver Infrastructural projects that directly impact rural communities, saying development will not be slowed by politics.

Speaking during an inspection tour, Wike said work on the Institutional Research Road linking Baze and Nile University, the Body of Benchers and other institutions was progressing steadily, noting that the project is expected to be completed and handed over by the end of May.

Wike disclosed that the road is among projects lined up for inauguration to mark President Bola Tinubu’s third year in office, adding that the development will ease traffic congestion and improve access to key institutions within the area.

“Politics is different. You have to serve the people. Politics has its own time and the work will continue to go on. Politics is not going to affect it.”

Wike also inspected the Body of Benchers extension building, which he said is about 80 percent completed, with only landscaping left, alongside major road works stretching over seven kilometres to Tungan Madaki, including a multi-span bridge and adjoining infrastructure.

“We went to the Institutional Research Road which links to Nile University and Body of benchers and other institutions that are here.The work done there is very encouraging. By the end of May, they would have handed over that project.” Wike said.

The Minister explained that the project was conceived after rural communities demanded inclusion during compensation talks, stressing that government kept its promise to link the villages to the city, adding that contractors have assured completion by late May or early June.

He dismissed concerns that the forthcoming elections could affect ongoing projects, insisting that service delivery remains the priority, as sustained infrastructure development is key to demonstrating the reality of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
