The Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) has announced the completion of investigations into disciplinary cases involving sixteen officers arrested in October 2025 over acts of indiscipline and breaches of service regulations.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Director, Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, in Abuja.
According to the statement, the investigations were conducted in line with established military procedures, and the report has been forwarded to the appropriate superior authority in accordance with existing regulations.
It noted that findings from the probe revealed that some of the officers were involved in allegations bordering on attempts to overthrow the government—acts described by the AFN as contrary to the ethics, values and professional standards expected of its personnel.
The statement stressed that officers found to have a case to answer will be arraigned before appropriate military judicial panels to face trial in line with the Armed Forces Act and other relevant service regulations.
It further emphasised that the actions being taken are strictly disciplinary and form part of internal mechanisms aimed at maintaining order, discipline and operational effectiveness within the ranks.
The Armed Forces of Nigeria reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism, loyalty and respect for constitutional authority.
