FCT Police Foils Armed Robbery Attempt In Kado

The FCT Police Command has successfully foiled an armed robbery attempt in the Kado area of Abuja, arresting one suspect and recovering dangerous weapons and other items.

According to a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Josephine Adeh, in Abuja, the incident occurred at about 6:15 a.m. on Friday, January 23, 2026, following a distress call that alerted the police to an attack on motorists near the MRS Filling Station, Kado.

The statement noted that police operatives from the Mabushi Division swiftly responded, forcing the suspects to flee upon sighting the patrol team. This led to a gun duel, during which one of the suspects sustained gunshot injuries.

It further explained that the injured suspect was taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention, while other members of the gang escaped into surrounding bushes.

The statement added that items recovered include a black Volkswagen Golf vehicle, a Beretta pistol, a locally made firearm, mobile phones, a generator, and several other items suspected to have been used for criminal operations.

The Command reassured residents of its unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property, adding that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
