Adequate Measures In Place For Credible FCT Election – CP Dantawaye

The Nigeria Police Force says it has put in place adequate security measures to protect the Independent National Electoral commission’s facilities and Election Materials ahead of next Month’s Federal Capital Territory Area Council Election.

The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Miller Dantawaye who stated this during a joint Security meeting organized by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC ahead of the polls said a joint Security situation Room to monitor political activities will be activated ahead of February 21 Area Council Election.

The FCT Commissioner of Police said as part of preparations for the poll all security agencies have been meeting regularly and identified some Black spots for adequate deployment of security personnel.

According to the commissioner of Police, officers and Men have been trained for safer environment during political campaigns, rallies and other Party activities for peace to reign in every part of the territory..

CP Dantawaye appealed to INEC to provide information to enable security agencies act promptly during emergencies.

He however stressed the need for INEC to test rum all its facilities and ensure that they are in order to avoid tension on the election day.

Earlier, the FCT Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mallam Aminu Idris said the meeting was to ensure a conducive environment for the conduct of the election in all the Sixty Two Political wards..

Mallam Aminu Idris used the opportunity to intimate security agencies on commencement of collection of Permanent Voter Cards starting tomorrow across the Six Area Councils.

He assured that the commission would work closely with the security agencies for water tight security before, during and after the election.

The FCT commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps Dr Olusola Odumosu maintained that the Corps had trained its officers for effective security network across the territory.
