NAHCON Issues Medical Eligibility Guidelines For 2026 Hajj

todayJanuary 19, 2026

Background

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced approved medical eligibility guidelines for Nigerians intending to perform the 2026 Hajj, urging all prospective pilgrims to take note and comply strictly.

In a statement released by the Commission’s management, NAHCON disclosed that pilgrims diagnosed with certain medical conditions will not be permitted to participate in the 2026 Hajj.

It says the directive aligns with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s international health requirements and safety regulations governing the annual pilgrimage.

According to the Commission, mandatory medical screening will be conducted for all registered pilgrims before the issuance of Hajj visas.

It emphasized that medical clearance is a non-negotiable condition for travel, stressing that no pilgrim will be allowed to proceed without meeting the approved health standards.

It explained that the measures are aimed at safeguarding the health and well-being of pilgrims, ensuring their safe participation in the rites of Hajj, supporting the orderly and hitch-free conduct of the pilgrimage.

NAHCON advised intending pilgrims to seek proper guidance and verification from their respective State Pilgrims Welfare Boards or registered Tour Operators for detailed information regarding the medical requirements.

The Commission also reiterated that compliance with the medical eligibility guidelines is mandatory for all intending pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj.
