The Kogi Ministry of Health has conducted interviews to select candidates for the Twenty Twenty Six National Health Fellows Program.
During the interview in Lokoja, the State Commissioner for Health Doctor Abdulazeez Adams Adeiza, highlighted that the program not only offers job opportunities for Nigerian youths but also aims to enhance the human resource capabilities within the nation’s health sector.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary Mr. Steven Momoh Aziz, Doctor Adams commended the Federal Government’s initiative stressing that it underscores the importance of hard work and selfless service to the Nigerian populace.
Chairman of the interview panel and State coordinator of the World Health Organization, Doctor Mahmood Saeed, noted that the program, initiated in Twenty Twenty Five by the Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, aimed to deploy at least one health fellow to each of the Seven hundred and Seventy four local government areas in Nigeria.
This he said would strengthen the health system and improve the capacity of local health professionals.
Doctor Saeed also mentioned that interviews were being conducted simultaneously across all states of the Federation.
SWAP Desk Officer in the State , Doctor Bola Jonah disclosed that a total of Sixty-Three candidates were identified and sent to the Kogi State Ministry of Health, resulting in three candidates per local government area.
Doctor Jonah added that successful candidates would participate in a one-year fellowship program designed to build expertise in public health and provide practical experience.
