The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC says One Million, Six Hundred and Eighty thousand, three hundred and Fifteen are eligible to participate in next Month’s Area Council Election in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
FCT INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mallam Aminu Idris who stated this while presenting the certified Voter Register to Political Parties in Abuja said the presentation was in accordance with the constitution which mandates the Commission to present the Register to the registered political parties before the conduct of the election.
Mallam Aminu Idris said the commission has carried out Ten out of the Thirteen stages of the conduct of the election in the Six Area Councils.
According the the Resident Electoral Commissioner, the Commission is prepared to conduct election for Six Chairmanship positions and Sixty Two Councillorlship positions.
He stressed that Three Thousand, Three Hundred and Nineteen Bimodal Voter Accreditation Systems BVAS have been configured for transparency and to curb Voter Fraud and impersonation.

Mallam Aminu Idris maintained that non sensitive Materials have been distributed to the INEC Six Area council offices.
He urged leaders of political parties to join INEC in educating their followers to conduct themselves towards ensuring peaceful conduct of the polls.
Speaking on behalf of the Inter Party Advisory Council, IPAC Mr Umar Yahaya commended INEC for engaging Stakeholders in all the processes leading to the conduct of the FCT Area Council Election.
Representatives of the Political Parties urged INEC to make adequate preparation as Nigerians await credible conduct of the polls.
They promised to mobilize eligible voters to come out en mass to participate in the polls.
