2026: Akpabio Projects Renewed Hope, Reaffirms Senate’s Commitment To National Stability

todayDecember 31, 2025

Background

The President of the Senate, Godswill Obot Akpabio, has expressed optimism that 2026 will usher in renewed hope and sustained national progress, anchored on institutional responsibility, legislative diligence, and collective resolve for Nigeria’s advancement.

In his New Year message, conveyed through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, Senator Akpabio acknowledges the resilience of Nigerians and highlighted the critical role of the National Assembly—particularly the Senate—in upholding democratic stability, promoting accountability, and driving the country’s development agenda.

He states that while the Executive arm continues to implement its policies, the National Assembly remains steadfast in carrying out its constitutional duties of lawmaking, representation, and oversight, ensuring that governance outcomes align with the aspirations and welfare of the Nigerian people.

Senator Akpabio expresses optimism that ongoing efforts to tackle insecurity, economic challenges, infrastructure deficits, and youth unemployment would yield more tangible results in the year ahead, while also urging Nigerians, as the country moves closer to the 2027 general election, to reject divisive politics and false messianic narratives in favour of strong institutions and national unity.
