The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, FCT Council has expressed shock and deep sorrow over the death of six journalists from Gombe State who were killed in a road accident while on duty.
In a condolence message by the Chairman NUJ FCT Council, Comrade Grace Ike, the council described the journalists as dedicated professionals whose commitment to truth and public service distinguished them within the media profession.
The NUJ FCT Council extended its condolences to the families of the deceased, the NUJ Gombe State Council and journalists across the country, saying the loss has created a significant gap within the union.
The council said the journalists would be remembered for their courage, professionalism and service to humanity, adding that their contributions to journalism would not be forgotten.
It also pledged solidarity with colleagues in Gombe State and prayed for strength and comfort for the bereaved families during the period of mourning.
