2027 : APC, PDP Unite In Rivers To Back Tinubu’s RHA – Wike

todayDecember 29, 2025

Background

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr. Nyesom Wike, has declared that political alignments in Rivers State have shifted ahead of 2027, with members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rallying behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Wike made the assertion on Monday during separate engagements with leaders, youths and women from Etche and Omuma Local Government Areas, where he said partisan divisions have given way to a shared commitment to development.

The FCT Minister emphasized that unity at the grassroots remains critical to political and economic advancement, warning against the consequences of division.

“When you are united, you get results. When you are divided, you lose,” he warned.

According to the former Rivers State governor, political identity has become secondary to unity and collective progress, noting that cooperation across party lines is now the prevailing reality in the state.

“In Rivers State, APC and PDP have already collapsed into one family, the Renewed Hope family,” Wike said.

He explained that the growing collaboration was anchored on common values, mutual respect and a desire to deliver tangible dividends of democracy to the people.

“I don’t want to hear again, ‘I am PDP’ or ‘I am APC.’ What I want to hear is that you are working together. All of us are members of the Renewed Hope agenda. It is one family,” he added.

Wike clarified that his visit to Etche and Omuma was not a political rally or campaign activity, but an appreciation tour to acknowledge the support of the people over the years.

“We didn’t come for any rally. I am here to say thank you for the support you have given to us over the years. We are not ungrateful people,” he stated.

While addressing stakeholders in Omuma Local Government Area, Wike stressed that true political power is built on credibility, consistency and grassroots trust, not opportunism or convenience.

“Power is not given freely. Politics is not a gift. Mandates are earned, defended, and protected. Nobody dashes power,” he said.

Reflecting on the 2023 elections, Wike defended his principled stance, noting that it was rooted in equity, fairness and justice. He urged his supporters to remain vigilant and await further directives from the leadership.

“From January, politics begins. Be prepared. This is not a threat; it is a strategic reality.”

Reaffirming his unwavering alignment with President Bola Tinubu, Wike stated that “Whatever the President says, know that is exactly where I stand. There is alignment. There is no ambiguity.”

He praised the chairmen of the two local government councils for their roles in maintaining unity and political stability, stressing the importance of trust and consistency in leadership.

“Agreement is agreement. When you agree with people, you must keep it,” Wike said.

He also expressed appreciation to women, youths and community leaders for their support and cooperation, noting that the peaceful conduct of the visit reflected increasing political maturity in Rivers State.

“This is not a rally. It is simply to say thank you,”. Wike noted
