2027: Wike Pledges Unalloyed Loyalty To Tinubu, Says “Agreement Is Agreement”

todayDecember 27, 2025

Background

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has reaffirmed his loyalty and continued support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, declaring that those who stood with the President when it mattered most would not regret their decision.

Speaking on Saturday in Ochigba, Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State, Wike recalled that himself and his supporters openly backed Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election at a time when doing so was politically difficult in Rivers State.

He said their courage and firm stance contributed significantly to Tinubu’s victory and assured stakeholders that their sacrifices would not be in vain.

The minister made the remarks during a meeting with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders after attending an end-of-the-year thanksgiving service organised by a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Chibudom Nwuche, in his hometown.

Wike urged party stakeholders to remain steadfast in their support for President Tinubu despite intimidation and political pressure in the state, noting that history recognizes those who take bold decisions at critical moments, not those who join the chorus after victory has been secured.

He observed that many who are now loudly proclaiming “on your mandate we shall stand” were absent during the difficult period before the 2023 election, when Tinubu’s chances appeared uncertain, pointing out that true loyalty is proven by action, especially in challenging times.

Emphasising his well-known political principle, Wike stressed that he believes strongly in keeping agreements, declaring that “agreement is agreement.”

He cautioned against making promises that cannot be fulfilled, adding that integrity and consistency are the foundations of credible leadership.

The FCT Minister assured his supporters that his position on President Tinubu remains unchanged, saying he has never hidden his stance and that Nigerians are fully aware of where he stands.

He noted that political attacks against him stem from his insistence on standing by decisions once they are made.

Wike concluded by reaffirming that himself and his political family would continue to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, assuring stakeholders that they remain strong and united as preparations for future political engagements begin.
