Christians have been urged to use the Christmas season to promote love, peace and unity, in line with the values exemplified by the birth of Jesus Christ.
The Executive Chairman of the Bwari Area Council, Hon. John Gabaya, who gave the charge in a Christmas goodwill message also called on residents to pray for the Bwari Area Council, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Nigeria at large.
He encouraged the people to deepen their faith in God, whom he described as the ultimate solution to societal challenges.
Expressing gratitude to God for the privilege of witnessing another Christmas, the chairman acknowledged the mercy and love of God despite the individual and collective challenges faced by the people.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to peace, security and safety, noting significant progress in socio-economic growth and infrastructural development across the council.
Hon. Gabaya commended residents for their steadfast support over the past six and a half years, assuring them of his administration’s continued dedication to the protection of lives and property in the council.
Reflecting on what he described as his final Christmas celebration as chairman, he outlined achievements recorded in health, education, agriculture, infrastructure and human capital development, while appreciating the people for their support since his assumption of office in 2019.
Ahead of the 2026 FCT Area Council elections, the chairman urged politicians in Bwari Area Council and across Abuja to embrace tolerance and shun violence, stressing that elections should be a contest of ideas rather than an opportunity for political vendetta or unrest.
He described unity as one of the council’s greatest strengths, noting that Bwari Area Council remains a peaceful home to diverse cultures, languages and traditions working together for development.
According to him, beyond physical infrastructure, the true strength of the council lies in the unity, compassion and shared sense of purpose of its people, which continue to drive the success of government policies and programmes.
He therefore called on residents to extend love to one another and recommit themselves to peace, compassion and service to humanity.
While wishing residents a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year, Hon. Gabaya prayed for continued peace, joy and unity in the council and urged them to celebrate responsibly for the overall progress of the Bwari Area Council.
