Christmas : CG NFSS Felicitates With Christians

The Commander General of the Nigeria Forest Security Service, NFSS, Ambassador Joshua Adewole Osatimehin is felicitating with christians on the occasion of this year’s Christmas celebration.

In his Christmas message in Abuja, Ambassador Osatimehin admonished christians to use the occasion in praying for the unity, peace, development and continuous corporate existence of Nigeria.

He also stressed the need for them to use the period in rededicating their lives to the service of God and humanity.

According to him, this year’s Christmas celebration calls for sober reflection in view of the current situation in the country.

The Commander General said members of NFSS in the 36 States of the Federation and in all the 774 Local Governments in the country have been mobilized to compliment the efforts of formal security agencies in maintaining law and order as well as protect lives and property during and after the Christmas celebration.

The Commander General used the opportunity to advice the general public to disregard some online reports on nationwide recruitment of 30,000 new personnel by the Service.

Dr Joshua Osatimehin described the online news report as fake.

He described the fake report as the handiwork of fraudsters who are bent on taking advantage of the excellent work of NFSS to dupe unsuspected Nigerians.

According to him, NFSS has no recruitment portal and not recruiting any personnel in the country.

“We at the National Headquarters of NFSS here do not have official portal yet but you’ll recall that President Bola Tinubu has given approval for the establishment of NFSS but we’re at the verge of harmonization and it’s after the harmonization has been done that through the office of the National Security Adviser, NSA, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment that we’re going to be directed on the next line of action but we in NFSS are not doing any recruitment hence the need for the general public to disregard the fake news”.

The Commander General used the opportunity to thank President Bola Tinubu, the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the Military, DSS, the Police, NSCDC, Customs, Immigration and NDLEA for their support to NFSS over the years.

Dr. Osatimehin equally thanked the two Chambers of the National Assembly for the passage of the NFSS Bill, stating that the move showed the lawmakers’ commitment towards combating forested crimes nationwide.

He therefore appealed to President Bola Tinubu to sign the NFSS Bill into law towards actualizing his renewed hope agenda for Nigerians in the area of security.

The Commander General reiterated the continuous support and commitment of NFSS in complimenting the efforts of formal security agencies in the fight against banditry, kidnapping, boko haram, terrorism and other crimes and criminality in the country most especially within the nation’s forested region.
