The reinstated Mandate Secretary of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Education Secretariat, Dr Danlami Hayyo, has expressed deep gratitude to God and Minister of the FCT, Dr Nyesom Wike, for his reinstatement, describing the development as a vindication and a renewed call to service.
Hayyo who stated this shortly after returning to office, thanked the Minister for his understanding and decisive intervention, affirming his unwavering loyalty to the Minister and the FCT Administration.
He also appreciated the Minister of State, members of the Secretariat, the FCT Administration, and other stakeholders who showed concern and worked tirelessly to ensure his reinstatement.
“I thank God Almighty for His blessings and for vindicating me. I also sincerely thank the Honourable Minister of the FCT, who carefully reviewed the situation and reinstated me. My loyalty to the Honourable Minister is total and unshakeable,” Hayyo said.
On the way forward, the Mandate Secretary assured that the ongoing transformation agenda of Wike in the education sector would continue seamlessly.
According to him, his return will further strengthen the reforms already underway, ensuring that the Minister’s vision and objectives for education in the FCT are fully realized.
As part of measures to prevent a recurrence of the incident that led to his temporary removal, the Mandate Secretary announced plans for comprehensive refresher training programmes for directors and senior officials within the Secretariat.
He explained that the training would clarify roles, mandates, approval processes, and the limits of authority of each office, emphasizing that no director is permitted to issue or circulate sensitive information without proper approval.
Addressing concerns about school safety, the Mandate Secretary assured parents, teachers, and the general public that all FCT schools are safe and secure.
He explained that security agencies such as the DSS, Police, Civil Defence, and other national security bodies continuously monitor threats and directly brief the Minister where necessary.
“There is no security threat in FCT schools. Security agencies are in constant communication with the Minister. Our role is advisory, and parents should be assured that our schools are safe,” he said.
