The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ FCT Council, has called for justice following the death of one of its members, Mr. Sunday Olatuyi, who was killed in a road accident in Abuja.
Mr. Olatuyi was knocked down by a Toyota Corolla at the Lugbe Bus Stop on Saturday night, December 20, 2025, while heading home after work.
In a statement issued in Abuja, the NUJ described the death as painful and deeply troubling, raising concerns about reckless driving and road safety in the Federal Capital Territory.
The union urged the Nigeria Police Force to carry out a comprehensive investigation and prosecute the driver involved, stressing that justice must be seen to be done.
The NUJ also extended condolences to the deceased’s family, colleagues, and professional groups, pledging to continue monitoring the case until justice is served.
The 40-year-old cameraman worked with Advocate Broadcasting Network (ADBN Television) and had previously been with Ben TV.
He hailed from Odo-Oro Ekiti in Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
He is survived by his wife, a seven-month-old daughter, and his mother.
