Insecurity : Over 100 Christian, Religious Leaders Seek Divine Intervention

Background

Over One Hundred Northern Christian Traditional and Religious leaders converged on Abuja to seek divine intervention to the current security challenges in the country.

Addressing the meeting, the Senior Pastor Dunamis International Gospel Center, Paul Enenche said the Northern Christian Stakeholders from the North Central and North East decided to come together to pray and speak with one voice for lasting solutions to the insecurity ravaging the Region.

According to him, the security situation has made farmers not have access to their farmlands, thereby increasing the poverty level in the regions.

Pastor Paul Enenche appealed to the people not to allow the present situation to affect their Love for the country.

He urged Christain traditional and religious leaders to remain United stressing that the situation would soon be a thing of the past.

The program coordinator, Mr Mark Lapdo, while speaking on the theme of the meeting: The Blood Of The Matyres:Seed of the Church, said Christains would continue to promote religious harmony and peaceful coexistence.

Mr Mark Lapdo emphasized that the government should take bold steps to expose those sponsoring banditry and other vices hampering the corporate existence of the country.

According to him, the situation is affecting socio economic activities and making lives unbearable.

The Converner of the event and the Former Governor of plateau State Senator Jonah Jang said the current security situation has rendered many homeless and increased the number of Internal Displaced Persons in the region.

He said terrorists are operating freely and sponsors walk freely with no concrete efforts to arrest and prosecute.

According to him, peace will not return to the region until the government addresses injustice.

Represented by Senator Simon Mwadkum, the former governor called on the government to halt the killings and assist those affected by the insurgency.

Senator Jonah Jang argued that perpetrators must be arrested and prosecuted to check the excesses of sponsors.

Some christaim leaders, including Pastor Gideon Darwell, related how his wife and five children were murdered on the Christmas Eve of 2023 in Plateau State.

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC and other prominent Traditional and Religious leaders who attended the meeting agreed that all Nigerians irrespective of their political and ethnic backgrounds must remain united in the fight against insecurity in the country.
