The Chairman of the House Committee on Anti-Corruption, Mashood Akinolu, has reiterated the commitment of the House of Representatives to developing policies that empower young people and strengthen the fight against corruption.
Speaking in Abuja during the commemoration 2025 International Anti-Corruption Day , Mr Akinolu said the House was working to enhance transparency, reinforce legal frameworks and promote civic education that equips young Nigerians with the knowledge to resist and report corrupt practices.
He warned that corruption weakens democracy, deprives vulnerable communities of essential resources and erodes trust in public institutions.
The Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, Musa Aliyu represented by Assistant Director Suleiman Achile described corruption as one of the greatest threats to development and social justice.
He said more collaboration among stakeholders was needed to effectively tackle the problem.
The Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, Dr Mainasara Umar Kogo, urged young people to prioritise skill development, saying formal education alone was no longer sufficient in a fast-changing, technology-driven economy.
He added that although Nigeria is endowed with abundant resources, injustice remains a major obstacle to progress.
Speakers at the event encouraged young Nigerians to contribute actively to building a corruption-free society by using their creativity and digital skills to demand transparency, accountability, and good governance.
