RHI, Adamawa First Lady Donate Cash, Food Items To PWDs

Background

In commemoration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, PWDs, the Renewed Hope Initiative and the Social Investment Program of the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, in collaboration with the Fresh Air Pro Life Empowerment Foundation of Dr. Lami Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, donated cash and food items to persons with disabilities across Adamawa State.

The event, held at the Government House, brought together PWDs from all 21 local government areas of the state.

Senator Oluremi Tinubu’s message read by the wife of the Governor, Dr. Lami Fintiri described the International Day for Persons with Disabilities as significant.

She noted that it aligns with the Renewed Hope Initiative’s Economic Empowerment Program, being implemented across all 36 states of Nigeria.

“A nation grows stronger when its citizens are empowered to contribute meaningfully,” the statement read.

“A truly inclusive society is built when citizens come together to create opportunities that empower them.”

Dr. Lami Fintiri further disclosed that the Renewed Hope Initiative provides ₦200,000 grants to 250,000 persons with disabilities nationwide to support small-scale business owners in recapitalizing their businesses and strengthening their livelihoods.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Neido Kufulto, who read the address of the wife of the Adamawa State Governor, described the day as special and significant for its impact on persons with disabilities.

She emphasized that the day reminds everyone that “there is ability in disability,” and applauded the Fresh Air Pro Life Empowerment Foundation for its commitment to reaching those in need.

Dr. Lami Fintiri stated that the day serves as a reminder of the country’s shared responsibility to create an inclusive environment where every individual is supported with dignity.

The State Chairman of Persons with Disabilities, Comrade Abdullahi Toungo, applauded the First Lady’s dedication to serving humanity without discrimination.

In a gesture of support, he donated 10 wheelchairs worth ₦2 million to complement the efforts of Dr. Lami Fintiri.

Chairman of Person With Spinal Cord injury, Dr. Sanusi Adamu commended the First Lady for her consistent support of vulnerable groups, noting that her involvement gives them a sense of belonging and inclusion.
