NFF Set Semi-Final Target For Chelle

todayDecember 3, 2025

Background

Ahead of the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Nigeria Football Federation has set a semi-final target for the Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle.

According to report, the Malian tactician met with the NFF technical committee in Abuja on Monday, where the Federation set what it calls a “realistic target” for the team.
Chelle has also been authorized to inject fresh bloods into the team following the Super Eagles failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Super Eagles are drawn in Group C alongside Tunisia, Tanzania and Uganda.

The three time Africa Champions will open their campaign on 23rd December against Tanzania before facing Tunisia on 27th December and then battling Uganda in the final group game on 30th December 2025.
Nigeria finished second at the last edition of the competition hosted by Ivory Coast.
Meanwhile Super Eagles captain Troost-Ekong William Troost-Ekong says Nigeria’s failure to qualify for the 2026

FIFA World Cup was one of the most painful experiences of his football career.
Ekong noted that the turbulent campaign left him battling feelings of shame and deep disappointment.

The 32 year old who acknowledged the weight of the disappointment, noted that the elimination was difficult both professionally and personally, given the expectations of millions of Nigerian supporters.
