Kapital FM 92.9 The Station that Rocks!
The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, FCT Council, Grace Ike, has been honoured with the “Excellence in Media Leadership and Advocacy Award” by the School of Communications and Media Studies, Learn To Live Business School UK (LLBSUK).
The award was a highlight of the institution’s 2025 postgraduate ceremony, which celebrated graduates from its first two cohorts.
The event drew media scholars, practitioners, and families of the graduating students.
Among those who completed the programme were Funmilayo Evelyn Akintola, Gloria Ikiba, Arith, and Yecenu Joyce Sasetu.
Presenting the award, former Director-General of the National Broadcasting Commission and AFIA Television chairman, Emeka Mba, described Ike as a trailblazer whose work has shaped national conversation.
He said Ike’s years of advocacy, mentorship, and defence of press freedom have made her a respected figure in Nigeria’s media industry.

“This award recognizes Comrade Grace Ike as an outstanding individual who has demonstrated exemplary leadership in advancing the values of ethical journalism, free expression, and responsible media practice,” he said.
Ike expressed gratitude for the recognition, calling it both humbling and motivating.
She said it would further inspire her efforts toward media reform and national development.
“Strategic communication remains central to every sphere of human endeavor and to our national development,” she said. “We must continue to refine how we tell our stories and how we engage the public.”
She reaffirmed her commitment to promoting responsible journalism and narratives that rebuild public trust.
The ceremony ended with certificate presentations, group photographs, and networking among academics and practitioners.
