Keffi Polo Ranch Drums Support For Education

The Keffi Polo Ranch 2025 tournament has its major objective of using polo to drum support for education in the state and beyond.

The founder of Keffi Polo Ranch, Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada (Nasarawa West) who disclosed that the cardinal objective of establishing the Keffi Polo Ranch is “to leverage on polo to open up our state to the rest of the world”, added that the ongoing edition is in support of education.

“As you have known, this tournament is in support of education. The ranch has printed 130,000 exercise books, which will be delivered to the 13 education secretaries of the state on Sunday, under the leadership of the executive chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), as the ranch’s contribution or support to education”.

Wadada, who was full of gratitude to God for the milestone achieved by Keffi Polo Ranch, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary said, “it is about giving back to the society for the good of humanity”.

Coincidentally, the 10th edition of the Keffi Polo tournament marks the 10th anniversary of the Emir of Keffi, Dr. Shehu Cindo Yunusa on the throne.

According to Wadada, “the motivation behind the tournament is humanity, it is concern for the people, giving back to the society for the good of humanity”.

As a federal lawmaker, Wadada said there is a direct connection between the Polo event and his present role or mandate in the Senate.

“For me to be a representative of the people means I’m a leader. What leaders do is to either take their people to civilization or they bring civilization to their people. I brought civilization to Nasarawa State. This is the first Polo club or Polo arena in Nasarawa State.”

“The whole idea is, since I have gone out there and I have seen, I have conquered and then brought back home; one or two, three investments have been put in place in Nasarawa State through the catalytic role of Keffi Polo Ranch”.

He said ten years of polo in Nasarawa, has witnessed at every tournament a milestone, especially a newly constructed pavilion, which shall be unveiled at the Grand Finale on Sunday, the 30th of November.

The new pavilion has already been named after George S. Coumantaros, the founder of Flour Mills of Nigeria (FMN), which has always been the main sponsor of all the tournaments at Keffi Polo Ranch.

According to him, the Polo Ranch deemed it right and fit to show its gratitude to Flour Mills by choosing to name the new pavilion after George S. Coumantaros.

Wadada, who proudly introduces himself as “horse rider” said God has blessed him as a lawmaker from his days as a member of the House of Representatives and today as a member of the 10th Senate and has to do this to show his gratitude by giving back, not only the federal constituency that i represent, nor only the senatorial district that I represent today, but the entire Nasarawa State.

He said his next shot is aspiring to for governorship of Nasarawa state, which, by the special grace of God, he declared “I am the guy to beat come 2027”.
