The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Federal Capital Territory Command, Dr Olusola Odumosu has reiterated the need for multi stakeholders engagement in controlling drug abuse and blocking its distribution channels in the country.
Odumosu, made the call when he was honoured with a Security And Emergency Management Award, SAEMA 2025 Award of Law Enforcement Officer of the year, held at the National Headquarters of the Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Abuja.
The FCT NSCDC Boss, emphasized that as a Corps responsible for safeguarding, protecting critical national assets and promoting community safety, the Command, remains committed to supporting strategies that reduce drug related risk and strengthens national reliance.
Dr Odumosu, noted that drug control is no longer just a health matter but a security imperative, noting that, the harmful link between substance abuse, crime, terrorism, vandalism and social instability requires bold innovative approaches.

“We acknowledge that innovation must be at the heart of our collective response in intelligence gathering, community engagements, technology deployment, and partnership building.
“These approaches will help us build safer neighbourhoods, empower our young people and secure a stable and secure future for our Nation”.
He lauded the organizers of the 7th Security And Emergency Management Award SAEMA 2025 award for creating a platform that recognizes outstanding contributions to security management.
He also commended other recipients of the award, for their dedication, professionalism and selfless service to the nation, adding that the award is a source of inspiration and a call for consistent work in the protection of the society.
The 2025 Award, is the 7th edition, organized annually by Image Merchants Promotions limited (IMPL), Publishers of PRNigeria and Emergency Digest in collaboration with the Centre for Crisis Communication, Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre, the International Emergency Management Society.
It is worthy of note that the Commandant Odumosu bagged this same award in 2023.
In his remarks, the CEO and editor of IMPL, Yushua Shuiab, said the Law Enforcement Officer award given to the FCT Commandant was in celebration of his exceptional contributions to security and emergency management, promoting professionalism and resilience in addressing national security challenges.
