Not less than 300 psychologists, scholars, and experts from 22 African countries will converge on Abuja to explore opportunities in psychology education to address developmental challenges in the continent .
A Professor of Clinical Psychology, Nasarawa State University Keffi Andrew Zamani, who stated this while addressing news men in Abuja said the Pan African Psychology Union decided to host this year’s conference in Nigeria to build the capacity of younger Nigerians on ways to respond to the challenges of trauma.
Professor Andrew Zamani said there was a need to have a program that would enhance cross- border mental health services for victims of violence, conflict resolution, peacekeeping, and youth development to meet African needs.
According to him, outcome of the Pan African Psychology Union meeting in Nigeria will support Governments, civil society organizations and well meaning individuals on poverty reduction, quality health care services, food security and social services that will positively impact quality of life in Nigeria.

” The Conference will attract lectures of psychology and Scholars to examine the challenges of psychology education, explore possibilities for the harmonization of psychology curriculum for improvement of training standards in our universities”.
Professor Andrew Zamani assured that the trauma healing session for students would equip younger Nigerians with competence to reduce the increased number of suicide cases in Nigeria.
