The National Pension Commission, PenCom and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, have entered into a partnership to recover un-remitted pension contributions and enforce compliance among employers.
During the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, in Abuja, PenCom Director-General, Ms. Omolola Oloworaran, said the collaboration marks a significant step toward promoting transparency, accountability, and integrity in the management of pension funds.
According to her, the agreement provides a framework for the recovery and prompt disbursement of pension funds into workers’ Retirement Savings Accounts, while ensuring legal action against defaulting employers.
She also noted that un-remitted contributions and unapplied funds under the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System, IPPIS, remain major challenges to the pension system.
Representing ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Aliyu, the Commission’s Secretary, Mr. Clifford Oparaodu, assured that ICPC would support PenCom through public enlightenment and enforcement to ensure employers fulfil their obligations.
He pledged the Commission’s commitment to protecting Nigerian workers’ pension rights.
