todayOctober 27, 2025

Background

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr Nyesom Wike, is in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, for the 2025 Asia Pacific Cities Summit and Mayors’ Forum (2025APCS), scheduled to hold this week.

His Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Monday from Dubai.

Wike is scheduled to lead a high-level panel session on Tuesday, where he will take questions on opportunities and developments within the FCT, and engage with mayors of major cities across the globe.

Organizers of the 2025APCS describe the summit as a strategic platform that fosters long-term economic benefits for cities and businesses interested in trade and investment across the Asia Pacific, Middle East, Africa, South Asia and other regions.

Initiated by the Brisbane City Council of Australia, the forum stands as one of the world’s most inclusive gatherings of mayors, city policymakers, business leaders and emerging professionals dedicated to advancing urban growth and partnership.

The Minister who departed Abuja on Sunday and touched down in Dubai around 4:00am on Monday, was warmly received by Nigeria’s Consul General in Dubai, Ambassador Zayyanu Ibrahim, alongside officials of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) that went ahead of him.

The FCTA delegation includes the Acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Richard Yunana Dauda; Senior Special Assistant on Legal and Multilateral Cooperation, Benedict Daudu; Director of Development Control, Mukhtar Galadima; Director of Engineering Services, Chuks Udeh; and Director of Protocol, Sani Musa Daura.
