FCT : Indigent Women In Lugbe Community Receive Free Food Items, Drugs From PSNF

Indigent women in Lugbe community in the federal capital terrory have received food and drugs as part of their corporate social responsibility to the society by the Pharmacists
Society of Nigeria Foundation.

Leading some members of the Foundation in Lugbe Abuja a Public Health Pharmacist, who is also the Director of the foundation, Munir Elelu said the gesture is to further compliment government’s efforts at alleviating the plight and enhancing the health status of rural women.

He said the programme was born out of the motto of the umbrella body, which says, serving the vulnerable and saving lives to increase access to healthcare, especially to the underserved people.

According to him, the project has been supporting various aspects of healthcare, increasing access to healthcare, particularly in underserved areas, where they don’t have much presence of healthcare facilities.

We are here today to ensure that we give back to the society by trying to encourage these women who are here, we talk about personal hygiene, nutrition and using safe drugs and to receive advise on what they can do to avoid side effects of the drugs they take.

While giving a ⁷health talk on hygiene and proper use of drugs to guide against drug abuse and misuse the Program Manager of the Federation, pharmacist Ijeoma Nwankwo encouraged the women to always visit the hospital for early detection of ailments to avoid complications or even death.

Some of the women appreciated the gesture and called on others to emulatevit.

“I am very happy to hear what is going on here. Some of my friends that are not able to come, they even tell me if I am able to collect for them I should please collect, but I will go and educate them on what they have taught us”

“The people who come here today I say God go bless them. “

Items distributed included drugs, food items to further enhance their living standards.
