Background

The Armed Forces of Nigeria say troops have recorded major operational successes across all theatres of operation in the past week, killing several terrorists, rescuing dozens of kidnapped victims, and foiling oil theft worth over ninety-eight million naira.

Speaking at the weekly media briefing on military operations in Abuja, Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, said the successes were achieved through sustained counter-terrorism, anti-banditry, and anti-oil theft operations across the country.

He noted that troops in the North East under Operation HADIN KAI neutralized several Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists, arrested sixteen collaborators, and rescued seven kidnapped victims in Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe States.
Weapons, vehicles, and over five million naira were also recovered.

He explained that in the North West, troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA killed several bandits, rescued six hostages, and arrested fourteen suspects in Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi, and Kaduna States.

Similarly, in the North Central, Operations ENDURING PEACE and WHIRL STROKE led to the arrest of over twenty criminals and the rescue of seventeen kidnapped victims in Plateau, Benue, Nasarawa, and Kogi States as well as the FCT.

According to the Director, in the South South, troops of Operation DELTA SAFE foiled oil theft valued at over ninety-eight million naira, destroying illegal refining sites and arresting thirteen oil thieves.

Also, in the South East, Operation UDO KA troops arrested a wanted IPOB/ESN commander known as Gentle, along with several collaborators and logistics suppliers in Imo, Ebonyi, and Abia States.

Major General Kangye commended the gallantry of troops and the sacrifices of those who paid the supreme price in defence of the nation.

He assured Nigerians that the Armed Forces remain committed to restoring peace and stability across all regions.
