The Chairperson, Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Comrade Bassey Ita Ikpang and the entire NAWOJIANS in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have expressed deep sorrow over the passing of their former Chairperson, Comrade Stella Okoh-Esene.
Comrade Bassey Ita Ikpang described her demise as a rude shock, painful and irreparable loss to the association and the journalism profession in Nigeria.
According to her, Comrade Okoh-Esene was a sister, a committed and selfless leader who dedicated her life to mentoring young female journalists and advocating for women’s voices in the media.
“Comrade Stella Okoh-Esene was a mother figure and a pillar of support to many. Her leadership qualities, humility, and passion for the profession will remain evergreen in our hearts,” she said.
Ita Ikpang, on behalf of the entire female, journalists, extended heartfelt condolences to her family, colleagues, and friends, praying that God grants them the fortitude to bear this great loss and rest her gentle soul.
