Abuja Infrastructure Execution Made Possible By Tinubu – Wike

todayOctober 7, 2025

Background

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, says the ongoing infrastructural transformation across Abuja is a direct reflection of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s visionary leadership.

Wike made this known during the flag-off of another road project in the Asokoro Extension District, where he stressed that the FCT Administration is only executing the President’s directives and development agenda.

“We forget the fact that Mr. President, as a leader, has agents who carry out his directives. You cannot say the FCT is working and the President is not working, it doesn’t make sense,” Wike stated.

The Minister said the President’s vision is for Abuja to compete favorably with other modern cities around the world, adding that this is what the current administration is committed to achieving.

According to him, the city’s appearance and infrastructure have improved significantly within a short time, and more communities will soon benefit from new road networks.

“The way Abuja was two years ago is not the same today, and it will not be the same tomorrow. By God’s grace, those areas yet to feel the impact will soon be connected,” he assured.

Wike highlighted key sectors already receiving attention, including education, transportation, sports, health, and roads stressing that no sector will be left out.

“When we came on board, we began rehabilitating over 70 primary and secondary schools, and we are set to refurbish 40 more. We are also moving into the health sector as captured in the 2025 capital budget,” he said.

He revealed that the administration has engaged with the Health Secretariat to begin immediate implementation of the 2025 capital projects to further strengthen the health system.

The Minister also emphasized that multiple construction projects across the FCT are creating employment for many young people.

“Every day, companies are engaging our teeming youths in one construction project or another. That is job creation, that is empowerment,” he said.

Wike noted that what Abuja is experiencing today is not magic but the result of deliberate leadership and commitment from the Tinubu administration.

“For those who travel abroad, it’s not magic, it’s about commitment and leadership. That is what the President is showing today,” he added.

According to him, the flag-off at Asokoro marks the tenth major project within ten days, covering roads, water projects, and street lighting across the city and satellite towns.

He also responded to critics, urging Nigerians to acknowledge the progress being made under the Tinubu administration and be honest about the changes being witnessed.

“Let us be truthful to ourselves. If these things were done before now, we would have moved on to other priorities. But since they were neglected, we cannot pretend nothing needs to be done,” he said.

Wike appealed to residents to continue supporting the administration and exercise patience as more projects are rolled out.

“Good roads, drainages, and streetlights are possible because of your taxes. Pay your taxes so we can do more,” he advised.

The Minister ended on a humorous note, comparing the need for resources to cooking a rich soup.

“Dis soup sweet, na money kill am. If there’s no money, the soup won’t taste good. The more we have, the more we can provide,” he quipped.

Wike reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring Abuja becomes a world-class city that reflects the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu’s administration.
