As Nigeria marks 65 years of independence, the Northern Nigeria Minorities Group, NNMG, has urged citizens to strengthen their commitment to unity, peace, and progress.
In a statement signed by the convener Chief Jacob Edi, the group said Nigeria’s survival through decades of political and social challenges showed the resilience and determination of its people.
The NNMG paid tribute to founding fathers, past leaders, and ordinary citizens whose sacrifices, it said, remained the backbone of the nation’s endurance.
It also praised President Bola Tinubu for his “boldness” in tackling difficult national issues and prioritizing long-term stability.
“The Northern Nigeria Minorities Group (NNMG) warmly congratulates the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the good people of our beloved nation on yet another historic occasion of our 65th Independence Anniversary.”
“This occasion offers us another opportunity to reflect on our collective journey of nationhood. Over the last six and a half decades, our unity and resolve to remain as one indivisible nation have been tested repeatedly.”
“We remain solid and unwavered. Our resilience, patience, and shared hope in the destiny of Nigeria have sustained us”.
“We must salute the countless Nigerians who, in the face of adversity, have remained committed to the ideals of unity, peace, and progress”.
The group called on Nigerians to renew their faith in the country and work collectively to achieve the aspirations of its founders.
