PBAT’s Administration Committed To Stability Of Governance – SGF

todaySeptember 30, 2025

Background

The Secretary of the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume says the administration of President Bola Tinubu is strongly committed to policy continuity and stability of governance.

Senator Akume made this known at the inauguration and maiden lecture of the Renewed Hope Grassroot Movement in Abuja.

Akume, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary Political and Economic Affairs in the office of the SGF, Mr. Nadunga Gagare said continuity is not just a governance principle but a moral obligation to secure sustainable development and prosperity for all.

“The chosen theme,”Continuity in Governance and Government Policies: Panacea to Sustainable Development in Nigeria” is not only timely but also fundamental to the success of any nation.

“In Nigeria’s history, one of the greatest challenges has been the tendency to abandon policies, projects and programmes once there is change in leadership.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation explained that this cycle of discontinuity has often stalled progress, wasted resources, and slowed down the pace of development.

“Sustainable development however thrives on consistency. A road started by one administration should be completed by the next.”

According to him, the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu is committed to stability in governance and places emphasis on strengthening national institutions, implementing reforms that outlive personalities and ensuring that government becomes less about individuals to a system that deliver for the people.

He stressed that the movement is not just a ceremony but an initiative that directly considers the yearnings of the masses for inclusive, accountability development at the grassroots.

Senator Akume who urged the group to remain focused, and promote continuity in governance stressed that the grassroots are the heartbeat of democracy and without the active involvement of the people at the base of the society, no government policy can succeed.

“The Renewed Hope Grassroots Movement has a duty to mobilize, sensitize, and ensure that citizens not only understand but take ownership of government policies,” Akume stated.

Earlier in his welcome address, the National Leader of the Renewed Hope Grassroot Movement Ambassador Isaac Chigozie, Udeh called on the coalition to stop wasting time because there is no vacancy in Aso rock in 2027.

Ambassador Udeh stressed that President Tinubu is no longer the problem of the coalition but the renewed hope grassroot movement because it has taken over the grassroots.

“We are here because we are comfortable with the policies of president Bola Tinubu and don’t want anybody else to come and carry out any experiment with us” Udeh emphasized.

“Nigerians need to be patient because what we are going through is like pregnancy, there will be joy very soon” he stressed.

In her presentation, the National Women Leader of the RHGM, Mrs. Soaga Abiola said that the movement will not be in vain because Tinubu must be retained, come 2027.

Mrs Abiola, therefore, canvassed deputy positions for women, adding that no nation can function perfectly without the contribution of women.

There were goodwill messages from RHGM members from the Diaspora, Patrons, zonal coordinators, state coordinators, state women leaders, and leaders from the six geo political zones amongst others.

Highlights of the event was the presentation of award to some distinguished Nigerians, inauguration of National officers, Zonal Coordinators, state coordinators as well as the national youth leader.
