Nig @65 : Senator Barau Calls For Unity, Support For President Tinubu

todaySeptember 30, 2025

Background

As Nigeria marks its 65th Independence Anniversary, the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, has called on citizens to remain united and look beyond the prevailing challenges confronting the nation.

He emphasized that the most important task at this time is to give President Bola Ahmed Tinubu the full support needed to drive the country toward for greater prosperity.

The Federal Government had earlier declared Wednesday, October 1, as a public holiday in commemoration of the nation’s 65th Independence Day celebration.

In a message to Nigerians signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau urged citizens to stay committed to promoting national unity while supporting and praying for the government to succeed in its mission of turning the nation’s fortunes around.

According to him, the positive impact of President Tinubu’s economic reforms is already becoming evident, while notable progress has been recorded in the area of national security over the past two years.

“Fellow Nigerians, happy Independence Day. As we mark the 65th Independence Anniversary of our great country, let us remember the immense sacrifices of our founding fathers—Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Sir Ahmadu Bello, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, and many others. We must rededicate ourselves to the ideals they upheld—national unity, peace, justice, and tolerance.”

“Yes, at 65, our nation faces certain challenges, but we shall overcome them. By God’s grace, Nigeria will emerge stronger and more resilient,” he said.

Senator Barau further appealed to Nigerians to continue supporting President Tinubu in implementing his policies and programmes under the Renewed Hope Agenda, stressing that the president’s intentions are in the best interest of the nation.

“As we work together, Nigeria will surely get it right,” he added.

The Deputy Senate President, who also serves as the First Deputy Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, assured that the parliament remains committed to promoting good governance and will continue to provide legislative support to the executive in the actualisation of its programmes and policies for the collective good.
