Independence Day : Akpabio Urges Patience, Reassures Nigerians Of Better Days Ahead

todaySeptember 30, 2025

Background

President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has expressed optimism that Nigeria is on the right track, noting that the reforms introduced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu are beginning to yield positive results.

He appealed to citizens to endure the current pains caused by the reforms a little longer, stressing that the sacrifices being made are in the best interest of children and future generations.

The Senate President made the appeal in a congratulatory message to commemorate Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary.

In his statement, Akpabio said: “My dear resilient and wonderful people of this great nation, I heartily congratulate you on witnessing Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary. At 65, we are matured and should be working for the unity of the nation and the prosperity of our people. We salute your resilience, patience and endurance in the last two years. We deeply appreciate your support and understanding.”

He further urged Nigerians to remain steadfast in the face of temporary discomfort, assuring them that the gains of the ongoing reforms will soon be fully realized. According to him, the theme of this year’s celebration, “All hands are on deck for a greater Nigeria,” reflects the collective effort needed to drive the nation forward.

Akpabio also congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to peace and development, the National Assembly for its legislative dedication, the judiciary, as well as Nigerians at home and abroad for their perseverance and contributions to nation-building.

He dismissed narratives suggesting that Nigeria is beyond redemption, insisting that the country is on the right path under Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

On behalf of his family, constituents, the 10th Senate, and the entire National Assembly, Akpabio wished Nigerians a peaceful and joyous Independence celebration.
