Kogi : 500 Women Benefit From RHI/Tony Elumelu Empowerment Prog

Background

Five hundred women in Kogi State have benefited from the Renewed Hope Initiative, RHI/Tony Elumelu Foundation Women Economic Empowerment Programme.

At the flag-Off and disbursement program in Lokoja, the Founder of RHI, Senator Oluremi Tinubu explained that the initiative, made possible through a one billion naira donation from Tony Elumelu Foundation was designed to empower women and improve their livelihoods.

Represented by wife of the Governor of Kogi State, Hajiya Sefinat Ododo, Senator Tinubu reiterated her commitment to advancing women’s economic independence through initiatives that strengthen households, communities, and the entire nation.

The First Lady of Nigeria who underscored the importance of empowering women in the Country, noted that the program would directly benefit five hundred women in each of the thirty six states and the FCT.

She noted that each of the five hundred beneficiaries from the thirty six States, and the FCT, would receive a grant of fifty thousand Naira to support their small businesses and improve family welfare.

While commending the partnership between RHI and the Tony Elumelu Foundation, Senator Tinubu urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the grants.

The State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Fatima Momoh described the initiative as a practical step towards uplifting women in the Country, assuring that her ministry would continue to support similar programmes in the state..

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Zainab Mohammed, expressed appreciation to the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for the gesture, adding that the grant would go a long way in enhancing their businesses.
