Veteran Nollywood Star Joke Silva Loses Brother

Veteran Nollywood actress Joke Silva is mourning the loss of her elder brother, John Olabiyi Silva, who died on August 29, 2025, at the age of 72.

Silva confirmed the news in a post shared on her Instagram page on Thursday, paying tribute to her late brother with heartfelt words that reflected their close bond.

“With acceptance of God’s Sovereign will, we announce the call to the glory of my dear brother, John Olabiyi Silva …long John Silva…Bros B…Uncle B…. my easy go lucky brother. Rest in peace. January 22nd 1953-August 29th, 2025,” she wrote.

Her brother’s death comes at a time when she has faced other personal challenges—most notably, caring for her husband, Olu Jacobs, who has been battling dementia in recent years.

The announcement of her brother’s passing quickly prompted condolence messages from her colleagues and fans.
