The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has arrested two suspected notorious kidnapping kingpins and recovered firearms as well as seven point four million naira cash from them.
According to a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the command Josephine Adeh in Abuja, the suspects, Masud Abdullahi of Karu Local Government Area in Nasarawa State, and Muhammad Tahir of Jos, Plateau State, were arrested following a counter-kidnapping operation.
It explains that
their arrest followed the abduction of Barrister Henry Chichi, who was kidnapped from his residence in Karu, Abuja, on the sixteenth of August, 2025 after which Police operatives mounted pressure on the kidnappers, leading to the victim’s safe release the following day.
The statement further reveals that in a follow-up operation carried out with the Nasarawa State Police Command, the suspects were intercepted along the Guraku axis of the Nasarawa–Abuja Highway after their operational vehicle lost control.
It adds that the FCT Commissioner of Police, Ajao Adewale, while commending the operatives for their courage and professionalism, gave assurance that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang.
