The Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council AMAC, Mr Christopher Maikalangu, has urged workers of the council to be proactive in the discharge of their duties to foster more development in the council.
The AMAC Boss who made the call in Abuja, during a visit by officials of FCT Area Council Service Commission, cautioned against staff who release official and sensitive information to the public which is against the oath of office.
The chairman emphasized the need for transparency and accountability in the council’s operations, saying any staff found guilty of misconduct will face the consequences, including possible redeployment or dismissal.
Maikalangu, however, commended hardworking staff of the council who has contributed immensely into providing rural infrastructure and services to communities, highlighting the importance of empowering communities through social activities, healthcare services and economic empowerment programs.
He reiterated his commitment to ensuring that the council delivers on its mandate and provides value to the people it serves, urging staff to work together to achieve the council’s goals and to maintain the highest standards of integrity and accountability.
Maikalangu, also expressed appreciation for the hard work and commitment of council staff, noting that they have done an excellent job in providing rural infrastructure and services to communities.
The chairman reiterated his commitment to ensuring that the council delivers on its mandate and provides value to the people it serves, urging staff to work together to achieve the council’s goals and to maintain the highest standard of integrity and accountability.
Also speaking, the Acting Administrative Secretary of the FCT Area Councils Service Commission, Mrs. Eunice Yakuza, said the commission came to AMAC to interact with the staff and to resolve issues they may be facing in the discharge of their duties.
On his part, the leader of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) in AMAC, Comrade Hassan Haruna, commended the chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), for his exceptional leadership and commitment to the welfare of staff.
“Maikalangu has shown empathy and support for staff, particularly in times of need.I praise the chairman for ensuring that hazard allowances were paid to relevant staff. I praised him for his prompt response to staff welfare, hence calling for more support for staff to ensuring that their rights are protected.
Also speaking, the Head of Administration, AMAC, Hajara Abdullahi Umar, commended Maikalangu for giving women the opportunity to serve the council in various capacities, thereby promoting inclusiveness and balance in the administration.
