FCT : FRSC Arrests Over 150 Traffic Offenders In 2 Days

The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC FCT Sector command says it has arrested over one hundred and fifty offenders in the last two days for various traffic offences.

The FCT Sector Commander, Mr Felix Thelman who made this known when he led his team on a visit to the General Manager of Kapital FM, Mrs Bukunola Towuro in Abuja said some of the offenders were sentenced to one to two weeks community service by the magistrate court .

According to the Sector Commander, the visit was to further strengthen the existing collaboration with Kapital Fm for more enlightenment and advocacy on effective traffic management in the Six area councils of the territory.

The Sector Commander, Thelman, who appreciated the management of kapital FM for the existing synergy in reporting the activities of the FRSC appealed to the management to sustain the collaborations to bring about sanity on FCT roads.

In his words, “In the last two days we have arrested more than one hundred and fifty offenders, some have been sentenced to community service, it is not just about okay, go and pay the fines, community service two weeks or one week. Within that one week, there won’t be an opportunity for you to go for your business. We believe that would also go a long way in bringing about change”.

Corps Commander Thelman stressed further that “Punishment inflicts some level of pain so that next time when you want to contemplate. You will say the other time you have suffered.”

“Maybe on a daily basis, if you make like three thousand to four thousand, by the time you calculate that for the number of days, you will discover that you have lost.
And it is actually not worth trying it again.”

Responding, the General Manager of Kapital Fm, Mrs. Bukunola Towuro appreciated the team for the visit and gave more insight on other areas of collaborations to improve sensitization campaigns.

“I want to appreciate you, because you mentioned that you can’t shout alone, the media would need to support you, I want to believe that it would go a long way, because sometimes when you have a course, you are the one shouting it, people tend not to either believe it or think because it is yours.”

“But if the other partners understand the mission on ground, then they can join hands with you.
You are also doing something fantastic about data and
statistics, I think that is something the people understand. There is no road safety office I have entered that I don’t see pictures of crashes and so many things to bring to your attention that some things are real and in most cases they are man-made.”

Mrs. Towuro said the station would always collaborate with well meaning Organisations and individuals willing to improve the well-being of the citizens for national development.
